Centerville officials conducted a brief meeting to introduce its 2025 budget and have planned another one for its potential passage.

No residents attended the Oct. 8 public hearing to hear or speak about the summary of funds, such as general, motor vehicle highway, local road and street, cigarette taxes, and economic development.

Centerville might bring in nearly $1.6 million through the various funding sources for town expenses.

A special meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 to discuss the budget in case any issues need to be resolved before council’s 7 p.m. Oct. 29 work session.

The new budget must be approved Nov. 1.

During the meeting, council also approved an additional appropriation for the fire department from the town’s highway service fund and a revised salary ordinance for Town Manager Kevin Slick that addresses a change in federal law for salaried employees.

Centerville’s employees and first responders teamed last week to collect items to be delivered to hurricane victims.

Council also heard about other year-end festivities including the Turkey Chase before Thanksgiving and Christmas in Centerville on Dec. 7, which includes a 7 p.m. parade.
