Several annual events are returning to Cambridge City this year, with one moving locations for more visibility.

Cambridge City Main Street’s Troy Lewis and Fire Chief Jeff Gabbard updated town council at its Feb. 10 meeting about plans. They received permission for necessary street closures.

  • Farmers market: The market moves to the first block of North Foote in hopes of attracting more National Road traffic. It will be open June 7-Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. Organizers hope to secure approval for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients to use their benefits at the market. Lewis said vendor signups are starting earlier this year. • Cleanup: CCMS volunteers will accept trash, scrap metal and yard waste from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
  • Second Saturdays: Events organized by several groups typically take place downtown from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the second Saturday. May 10: Spring Fling; June 14, jar show; July 12, artisan fair; Aug. 9, Junk in the Trunk; and Oct. 11, the fall antique show. September is skipped because of the Canal Days festival on Sept. 6-7. Evening concerts likely will take place June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9 at Creitz Park.
  • Independence Day: Firefighters and Cambridge City Chamber of Commerce again partner to offer fireworks on Saturday, July 5, at the park. Firefighters plan their annual car show July 6.
Cambridge City farmers market opens between June 7-Oct. 4, 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays.
