William “Bill” Lasher, 93, of Greens Fork passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on October 26, 2022.
Bill was born March 12,1929 in High Point, North Carolina to Mary S. Ayers and Irwin Lasher. Bill spent most of his life in North Carolina and Indiana. Bill was a US Navy Sea Bees veteran from WWII, serving his country stateside and abroad. He graduated Guilford College, North Carolina. Bill provided for his family as a terminal manager for Hennis Freight, trucking, and managing ACE Hardware in Brookville and Walmart in Richmond. As a retiree and up until 2019, he served as a member and officer of the Greens Fork Town Council and the Greens Fork Cemetery. Bill enjoyed playing guitar when he was younger and excelled at hobbies including golf, fishing, and pool. As a man of Christian faith, he exhibited kindness through humility and generosity.
Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Paddock-Lasher. Also surviving are Bill’s children: Susan (John) Craven of Arizona, Billy (Jenny) Lasher of Virginia, Dennis Lasher of North Carolina, Larry Lasher of North Carolina, Terry Maley of North Carolina, and stepdaughter Shannon (Greg) Dalton of Indiana; grandchildren: Deana Spano, Kevin Lasher, Michaela Maley, Savannah Ross, Heather Day, Emily Sells, Tabitha Johnson and Matthew Dalton; great-grandchildren Oliver and Gideon Lasher, Margaux and Kai Dalton.
Bill is preceded in death by his grandson Cody Lasher and stepdaughter Melanie Johnson. Bill will be missed by many friends and members in his community.
Visitation for William (Bill) Charles Lasher will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greens Fork South Cemetery.
