Nancy J. Conant, age 78, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living, surrounded by her family.

Born March 27, 1944, in Wabash, Indiana, to Wilbur Lamoine and Eliza Gladys Underwood Ohmart, Nancy had lived in Richmond since childhood. She was a 1962 graduate of Richmond High School. Nancy worked at several different places until she landed at J. C. Penney, and then she stayed there until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Nancy enjoyed gardening, sitting in the sun, sewing, reading, shopping, and going to festivals. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friends, Jeannette Wilson, Doreen Plohr, and her best pet friend, her cocker spaniel, Buffy.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Conant Nave of New Paris, Ohio; son, Stephen (Tayla) Conant of Richmond; granddaughters, Amanda (Jake) Nave Jones, Shannon (Louie) Abounader, Miranda Conant, Casey Kraut (Jason Crowder), and Alissa Kraut; great-granddaughter, Grace Joan Jones, soon to be born Layla Abounader, Jayden, Justin, Jacob, and Jayce Abounader; sister, Ann Cussins; and brother, Duane (Nancy) Ohmart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John B. Conant who passed away March 12, 2019; parents; brother-in-law, Lee Cussins; and two nephews, Eric and Scot Ohmart.

Memorial visitation for Nancy J. Conant will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Hodgkin officiating.

Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery.
