Charles William Stigall, age 81, resident of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Golden Rule Care Center in Richmond, Indiana. He was born November 25, 1940, in Tateville, Kentucky, a son of the late William Earl and Ethel Mae (Surber) Stigall.

Charles became a boy scout in 1951 at the age of 11. He married the love of his life, Joan (Blevins) Stigall July 4, 1962. He was active in the US Army for nine years where he served in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam until his honorable discharge in June 1967. Charles then went to work at Westinghouse from 1967 until 1980 and Indiana Department of Corrections from 1982 until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the Mason Lodge #674, American Legion, post 137, and a life member of D.A.V., V.V.A., and VFW.

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 wonderful years, Joan Stigall; a son, Cliff (Carri) Stigall; a daughter, Tammy (Keith) Troxell; four grandchildren, Alisha “Eshe” (Brandon) Richey, Chase (Rachael) Stigall, Skylar (Trent) Pierce, Aubrey (David) Kirby; five great-grandchildren, Gavin and Raylee Richey, Lenna, Crew, and Kellan Stigall; two brothers, Roger (Judy) Stigall of Kentucky, Earl (Heidi) Stigall of Muncie; a sister, Alice Shelton of Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Stigall.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Rose City Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with burial following at Batson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022, at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion and VFW.
