Leslie W. Moistner, age 87, of Centerville, Indiana, died Friday, October 7, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Born June 3, 1935, in Cambridge City, Indiana, to Walter and Elizabeth Rogers Moistner, Leslie was a life-long resident of the area. He was a graduate of Bentonville High School. Leslie worked as a carpenter and owned his own business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering around with cars, was a jokester and very quick witted. Leslie was a 54-year member of American Legion Post #169.
Survivors include his wife of over 66 years, Betty Earlywine Moistner, to whom he was married December 24, 1955; children, Will (Kathy) Moistner of Leesburg, Florida, Cindie (Butch) Sims of Hillsboro, Ohio, Wendie (Rick) Morgan of Centerville, and Timothy Moistner of Richmond, Indiana; six grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Mathew, Sarah, Joshua, and Lora; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carrie Moistner; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Morgan; sisters, Anna Mae (Don) Smith, Linda (Ralph Gail) Wilson, and Carolyn (Gordon) Rayburn; brothers, William Moistner and Paul (Norma) Moistner; son-in-law, Richard Scott; and daughter-in-law, Sheri Moistner.
Per the family’s wishes, there will be a private family service for Leslie W. Moistner. Arrangements are being handled by Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery at a later date.
