Naoma. E. Girton, 87, formally of Lynn, In passed away peacefully September 30,2022. Born June 25,1935 to Milton and Bessie (Hiatt) Short. She graduated from Spartansburg High School in 1953.

She attended Earlham Collage for 3 years then transferred to Ball State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’ s degree in education. She taught Home Economics at Ridgeville High School and Science at Driver Jr High in Winchester until her retirement in 1997. Naoma was known for her quick wit, love of music and love of all animals.

She is survived by her son, Brent Girton (Cheryl) of Centerville, IN; daughter, Renee’ (James) Thrasher of Richmond; 5 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren; 3 Bonus Grandchildren; and 6 Bonus Great- Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Howard (Mary) Short; sister-in-law Patty Short, many nieces, nephews; and dear friend Becky Cummings. Naoma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years Larry Girton; brothers, Palmer, Warren and Roy Short and 1 Great Grandson.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Lisa Jelly and ALL the staff at the Leland Legacy Assisted Living Facility for the extra special care Naoma received while residing there. The staff at Rosebud Village, especially ALL the Nursing staff in the Rosebud Cottage Unit, not only for providing such amazing, loving care of “Miss Naoma” but for being so incredibly patient, kind and helpful to her family during her residency. To Southern Care Hospice for all the help the past few weeks.

Funeral Services will be Saturday October 08,2022 at 11:00 am at Arba Friends Church 10632 South Arba Pike Lynn, Indiana with burial following in Arba cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 Friday October 07,2022 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel 108 E Sherman St Lynn, IN . Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue Fund, 1209 W.
