V. Jean Clifton Carey, age 97, of Tipp City, Ohio, formerly of Cambridge City and Richmond, Indiana, went to Heaven Friday, September 30, 2022, at Danbury Senior Living in Tipp City, Ohio.
Jean was born March 30, 1925, to James Fay and Hazel Mae Paul Funkhouser. She graduated from Cambridge City High School and was a resident of this community most of her life. Jean was an outstanding homemaker and had formerly worked at Perfect Circle, Miller Bros., and Balanced Line Caskets. She was a member of Centerville Christian Church and was very devoted to her faith. Jean enjoyed pottery, watercolor painting, and many other interests. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include her daughter, Sonnie (Jeff Peters) Clifton of Huber Heights, Ohio; son Jan G. Clifton of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandson, Doug (Erin Doerstler) Owens of Richmond, Indiana; great granddaughter, Sydney (Brandt Stapleton) Owens of Centerville, Indiana; stepdaughters, Diann Smith and Donna Carey, both of Hagerstown, Maryland; step grandson, Lee Smith; brother, Robert (Marilyn) Funkhouser of Florida; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Clifton; second husband and high school sweetheart, Harold Carey; parents; brothers, Donal and James Funkhouser; and step grandsons, John and Robert Smith.
Graveside service for V. Jean Clifton Carey will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Zion Cemetery in Raleigh, Indiana. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Centerville Christian Church, 111 North Morton Ave., Centerville, IN.
