Madalyn O. Minehart passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.
Madalyn was born August 6, 1996, in Auburn, Indiana.
She is survived by her mother, Margo (Whitman) Trevino, her father George Minehart and stepmother Danielle (Massey) Minehart, her paternal grandfather Richard Minehart, her maternal grandmother Kathy (Whitman) Ross, her brother Gabe Trevino, and her sister Avery Minehart.
Madalyn was a graduate of Eastside High School’s class of 2015 where she excelled in academics, volleyball, basketball, and softball. She is an alumni of Manchester University, class of 2019, where she majored in History and Religious Studies, played basketball and was an active member of the campus Peace Studies group. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Bethel Seminary in Richmond.
Madalyn was baptized into the Church of the Brethren in 2022. She was called to the Church of the Brethren because of their commitment to service, peace, community, and inclusion, values that aligned with Madalyn’s belief structure and the way she lived her life.
Madalyn was a special person, her intellectual curiosity, quick wit, kindness, and empathy made her a cherished daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and student to all that knew her. She was truly an amazing person who thought of others before herself. Her loss will be felt deeply by everyone who knew and loved her.
Madalyn’s passing was made even more tragic by the fact that her life was taken by her own hand. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health issues, please talk to someone, whether that be a therapist or friends and family. You are worthy.
