A Richmond man has been arrested after one person was killed and a second was wounded on the city’s northeast side.
Shortly before 6:45 p.m. Thursday, May 13, second-shift patrol officers for Richmond Police Department were called to the 1400 block of New Paris Pike on a shooting.
When officers arrived, two victims were found.
John Dee Day, 46, of Richmond, was deceased at the scene.
Brenda Day, 72, also of Richmond, was located with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was transported to Reid Health and taken to surgery.
Investigators executed two search warrants and talked to several witnesses.
Police believe an ongoing dispute between neighbors over a driveway led to a physical altercation, according to Capt. Curt Leverton.
The victims were shot after the fight was over, Leverton said.
Elick Tywayne Allen, 41, of Richmond was arrested on preliminary charges of murder and attempted murder. Allen was lodged in the Wayne County Jail.
