On Friday, Nov. 22, INDOT officials shared that its schedule for upcoming pavement patching and lane restrictions schedule on Interstate 70 in Wayne County in the coming days would be altered.

INDOT had previously announced it would take a Thanksgiving week break to keep traffic flowing, and then one eastbound lane would be closed from Dec. 6-20.

However, INDOT’s latest news release said impacts to motorists could be minimized by completing the patching work from approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, through 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, if weather will cooperate.

Work is to be limited to the right lane of eastbound I-70, from mile markers 145 to 149.

When that patching is finished, the Dec. 6-20 restrictions won’t be needed.

The patching of I-70 westbound lanes that was to end Nov. 22 was completed ahead of schedule.

Crews also are to continue soil boring work overnight along the interstate on Monday, Nov. 25, and Tuesday, Nov. 26. Single-lane restrictions and shoulder closures are expected. That work is part of preparations for the Revive I-70 construction project starting early next year from west of U.S. 35 to the Ohio state line.

INDOT expects Revive I-70 will reduce corridor congestion and improve traffic flow and safety, the release said.
