The results of a Wayne County animal welfare assessment will be shared with the public on Thursday, July 18.
Dr. Sara Pizano, a veterinarian who is an animal welfare strategist for Team Shelter USA, will share her recommendations and findings after studying local conditions.
The program is planned from 6-7:30 p.m. at Richmond High School’s McGuire Hall, 350 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond. It’s on the north end of the building, surrounded by Richmond Art Museum.
Pizano has spent nearly three decades working in veterinary science and animal welfare. She founded Team Shelter USA in 2017 to provide shelters of all types and sizes with a broader array of services.
Community partners for the assessment include Wayne County Foundation, City of Richmond and Wayne County government.
Team Shelter USA visited Wayne County in February to do research and continued to gather local information before the completed report was submitted to city and county elected officials on March 31. Local officials continued to have conversations with Pizano afterward.
Those with questions can contact Wayne County Foundation at 765-962-1638.
