It’s now up to small-town residents to determine whether they’ll have choices on their ballots this fall.
Town residents have until Aug. 1 to file for council seats or clerk-treasurer positions.
In the last few days, two candidates have joined the ballot for their communities.
James “Jim” A. King filed for Cambridge City Town Council’s District 4 as an independent. King is not currently serving on the council. Republican Michael Amick currently holds that seat.
Rex A. Snyder filed to run again for Dublin town council. He is an independent seeking an at-large seat. Snyder works in transportation and facilities for Western Wayne News.
If those candidates or others face opposition from within their party, a town convention will take place to finalize the ballot before the November election.
Elected city and town officials provide leadership and oversight of government functions that affect the daily lives of residents. From making decisions about responsible uses of taxpayer dollars to responding to citizen concerns, the people elected or reelected in the fall could shape key aspects of the community for years.
