Paul Edward “Skip” Shinkle Jr., age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Reid Health.
Born December 23, 1936, in Canton, Ohio, to Paul E. and Merriam Morledge Shinkle Sr., Skip had been a resident of Richmond since 1979. He was an automobile salesman for Nottingham Auto Group and owned Skip’s Lawn Service. Skip was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was very active as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and chair of the board of trustees. He was also involved in Bible Study Fellowship. His family all agree that he was the best bonus dad ever, and the most selfless man you will ever meet.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Moore Shinkle to whom he was married on September 23, 1989; son, Paul “Chip” Shinkle III of Wisconsin; daughters, Colleen Shinkle of Florida, Jill Robertson of Ohio, Jennifer Robertson of Indiana, and Jan Robertson of California; grandchildren, Aleigha (Jon), Zachary, Chloe, Dilyn (Stacia), Logan, Makinna, Brinklee, Christian, Elizabeth, Daniel, Nikki, and Bob; great-grandchildren, Marlowe, Cleo, Willow, Ryder, and Ember; sister, Penny Lynn Link; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Alicia Robertson; and brother-in-law, Ronald Link.
Visitation for Paul Edward “Skip” Shinkle Jr. will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 1601 South A Street, Richmond, Indiana, with Mike Nottingham officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery’s Veteran’s Field of Honor, with military honors by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
