Blanche Ellen Thompson, 85, of New Castle passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in New Castle on September 29, 1937, a daughter of the late L. Paul and B. Edna (Choate) Carter.
Blanche was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School and California College of Respiratory Therapy Science located in San Diego, CA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle where she had served in many capacities. She retired from Henry County Memorial Hospital after approximately 14 years as a respiratory therapy technician.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, going to church, helping with meals at church and going to Bible study when she could. Blanche loved to travel and was ready to go at any minute. She enjoyed sitting out in the garage and watching people walk by.
Blanche is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward L. Thompson; children, Bruce A. (Rhonda) Thompson, Robin A. (Doug Dorn) Broyles, Debra L. (Scott) Rollins; grandchildren, Brooke (Zach) Gilles, Courtney Thompson, Dessa Rollins and Noah Broyles; great grandchildren, Maia and Libby; siblings, George (Zeta) Carter and Kathy (Greg) McQueen; sisters-in-law, Jane Carter and Bonnie Carter; niece, Linda Carter; nephew Mike Hall; along with several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Carter, William “Bill” Carter and Donald “Don” Carter; sister, Margaret Hall; sister-in-law Emogene Carter; brother-in-law Jack Hall; son-in-law, Alan Broyles.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday February 4, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Jerry Ingalls and Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Heart Society, First Baptist Church or charity of donor’s choice.
