Harold “Lee” Platt, 81, passed away on January 17, 2023. He was born September 28, 1941, in Winchester, to George R. and Johanna (Vail) Platt.
Lee attended Winchester High School with the class of 1959. He was Ham Radio Operator KB9UY. Lee’s work started at Maul Brothers, Alcoa and then Eaton Gear Work, Natco, and retired from Ohio Valley Gas after 231/2 years. His hobbies were cars, wheelhorse, motorcycles, RV’s, and spending time in Florida in the winter with his wife.
Lee is survived by his wife of 30 years, Romona (Burkhardt) Platt; two daughters, LeAnn Platt and Gretchen Platt; two step children, Amy Winkle (Ron Weston), and Shane Wood (Tammy Pruitt); four grandchildren, Brandon Platt, Miciah Grubbs, Danielle Sexton, and Zack Gregory; seven great grandchildren, Alexis, T.J., Levi, Bentley, Kenlee, Kenzingtyn, and Wrenley; two step grandchildren, Sierra (Kaleb) Denney and Michala (Aaron Beaty) Wood; a step great granddaughter, Emily Rose and one due in April, and nephew and niece.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Brenda Ackman. The family would like to thank the Randolph Nursing and Rehab for the tender care and kindness. He will be missed but the love and cherished memories that he left behind will stay with us. He lived life to the fullest.
A celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday January 21, 2022, at the Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home. Walker Funeral Home in Winchester is entrusted with the arrangements.
