James “Randy” Buhl, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Reid Health in Connersville. He was born on October 9, 1965 in New Castle, to James D. and Diana (Gethers) Buhl and was a lifelong resident of this area. Randy married the love of his life, Julie Ann (Pflum) Buhl on April 20, 1991 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Connersville, from this union they had three children and together built a home full of love.
Randy was a 1984 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a member of the tennis team, which in 1982 won the sectional, regional meets and qualified for semi-state and he also played basketball and ran track. Randy attended Indiana State for two years before transferring to Ball State. He was a salesman for over 30 years and spent the last 10 years working for JWF Technologies. In addition to his regular job, he started his own business, Buhl’s Green Thumb Landscaping. He also spent many years as an assistant coach for girl’s basketball and softball. Randy enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, and golf his entire life and in recent years became an avid pickleball player at the Golay Center.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julie; children, Patrick, Libby and Jamie; mom, Diana; sister, Lisa (Bruce) Stokesbury; in-laws, Phil and Diana Pflum; sister-in-law, Mindy (Rich) Blaiklock; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his dad, James D. Buhl and his nephew, Bradley Stokesbury.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 PM on Monday, January 9, 2022 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
