Kenneth “Kenny” Summan died Monday December 5th, 2022. He was born February 8th, 1941, in Connersville, Indiana to Franklin and Nina (Powell) Summan. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1959 and went on to complete the Purdue University farm short course. On September 13th, 1963, he married Patricia Jolliff of Rush County.
He farmed all his life having rented his first farm when he was a junior in high school. He retired from farming in 2019. Kenny was a member of New Heights Christian Church, Whitewater Valley Railroad, Life member of Fayette County Free Fair Board, having served as amphitheater director. He was also a member of Pioneer Engineers Club of Rushville and collected Farmall tractors. He was a board member of Bentonville Cemetery Association for 55 years and served as President for 53 years. Kenny was a charter member of the Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department, serving as assistant chief for 26 years. He was also a 46-year member of Harrison Lodge #84 IOOF.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; daughters, Ann (Eric) Graef of Fishers, and Amy (Tony) Weber of Westfield; granddaughter, Samantha Graef of Fishers; and sister, Suzy Summan (Tom Revalee) of Falmouth.
Memorial donations may be made to New Heights Christian Church, Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department, or Whitewater Valley Railroad.
Visitation will be on Friday December 9, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Ryan Phelps will officiate. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery.
