William J. “Bill” Potts, 58, of New Castle passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1964 in Muncie, Indiana, a son of Harry and Beverly (Riley) Potts.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corp in Cherry Point, North Carolina as a missile technician until becoming disabled. Bill worked at the Opryland Hotel in the electronics division and for Comcast Cable. He was an accomplished musician on the 5 string banjo, playing in Nashville, Tennessee. Bill was a member of the DAV and Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid woodworker, specializing in Christmas ornaments.

Survivors include his mother, Beverly (Riley) Potts of New Castle; cousin, Stacey Cleveland (Jim Dobbs) of New Palestine and Scott (Donna) Riley of Citrus Springs, Florida.

In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph & Pearl Potts; maternal grandparents, Francis & Alberta Riley and an uncle, Gerald Riley.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Ronn Oren & Yvette Oren officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by a contingent of the U.S. Marine Corp, the American Legion and the VFW. Memorial contributions may be given to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
