Jacquelyn “Jackie” L. Owens, 58, of New Castle passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at her residence. She was born August 1, 1964 in New Castle, the daughter of Gerald and Dottie (Burchett) Pope.
Jackie was a 1982 graduate of New Castle High School where she was in the Trojan Band and played softball. She worked for 23 years at the State Hospital and 8 years at the FSSA office before illness didn’t allow her to any longer. Jackie would do anything to help anyone in need. Her main priority in her life was her family. She loved spending holidays with them and attending her children and grandchildren’s activities and sports. She also enjoyed fashion, playing cards, music and attending concerts.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Wesley (Kaleigh) Owens and Ethan Owens; grandchildren, Knox, Halle, and Harper; mother, Dottie Pope of New Castle; siblings, Cindy (Mark) Holzinger of Middletown, Scott Pope (John Harvey) of Tappahannock, VA, John (Penny) Pope of Ft. Wayne and Jamey Pope of Denver, CO; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Pope; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Mildred Pope; maternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Burchett; her children’s father, Darryl Owens; and a special aunt, Mary Louise “Mimi” Pope.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service. Condolences and memories of Jackie may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
