Edith Dailey, 97, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away on November 4th, 2022, following a brief illness.
Born to the late George and Elsie (McKinley) Watson on September 30th, 1925, Edith lived most of her life in Muncie, Indiana. She graduated from Muncie Central in 1943 and worked at Glascock Bros. following graduation. In 1945 Edith married the love of her life, Ralph Dailey, after he returned home from serving in WW2. The couple shared 63 years of marriage and lived a love story that would be admired by generations to come.
Edith was a homemaker and lived a life marked by incredible kindness. She cared for both her parents and in-laws in their later years. When she became a grandmother, her house was the preferred place for family to gather for celebrations. Family and friends were always welcomed in her home, especially for the daily coffee break at 2pm. Edith’s hobbies included bowling leagues, walking the Muncie Mall, attending and serving at Avondale United Methodist Church, completing crossword puzzles and word searches, and spending time with her family. She diligently sent greeting cards to family and friends for all occasions and always asked that anyone who visited her call when they had safely arrived at home. After selling her home in Muncie to move closer to family, Edith enjoyed playing bingo with fellow residents at Raintree Square.
Although delicate in frame, Edith’s personality was anything but fragile. She was always ready to offer opinions and wisdom with family. This was done occasionally with attitude and consistently with love. Her favorite song was “How Great Thou Art” and she also loved Big Bands. Edith’s love for the Lord was evident to all who knew her. She was a firm believer in counting her blessings, and shared her wit, respect, and kindness with everyone even into her final days.
Edith is survived by three children: Rod (Linda) Dailey of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Bonita Isenberg of Charlottesville, Indiana; and Julie (Rob) Booster of Noblesville, Indiana; 12 grandchildren: Andrew (Melanie) Dailey, Aaron (DAnna) Dailey, Hannah (Sam) Story, Joseph (Mandy) Dailey, William (JoAnn) Dailey, Benjamin (Katie) Dailey, Emily (Evan) Schnabel, Hattie Isenberg, Molly (Jacob) Leighty, Ava Booster, Eli Booster, and Arwynn Booster; 16 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; 2 nephews, cousins, and her favorite feline companions, Colt and Remington, who she affectionately referred to as “the boys”.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph; brother, Chester “Chet”; daughter, Bethann; granddaughter, Anna Isenberg; and son-in-law, Donald Isenberg.
