Priscilla Ann Gethers, 95, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on October 31, 2022. She was born March 3, 1927, in Pershing, Indiana, to the late Mary and Robert Rush.
Priscilla graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Indiana, where she met the love of her life, Byron (Barney) Gethers and they were married for 63 years before his death in October 2011. Priscilla was a devoted homemaker, member of the Pershing Town Council, and volunteer ambassador at Reid Hospital for over 30 years.
Priscilla will be remembered as a loving wife and gracious mother who enjoyed many hobbies and interests that spread cheer to all. She had a lifelong love of singing and shared her gifts with the choirs of Zion Lutheran Church in Pershing and Evergreen Senior Living in Cincinnati, where she serenaded fellow residents for the last 11 years. She cherished playing games and didn’t much care for winning if it meant having fun and filling a room with laughter. Her faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering and she lived out her days as His Servant. Above all other interests, though, Priscilla’s favorite activity was spending time with beloved friends and family. She was a fiercely good friend, staying in touch regularly to follow up on every detail of someone’s life. Her consideration, thoughtfulness, and love for others were apparent in everything she did, and her sparkle and light will be sorely missed.
Priscilla is preceded in passing by her parents, husband, sister Marjorie (Rush) Brock, and son-in-law, John Potts.
Priscilla is survived by her loving children, Ann Drey, Mark (Phyllis) Gethers, and Nancy Gethers; grandchildren, Liz (Chad) Clinton, Matt (Risa) Gethers, Gabrielle (Seth) Harms, Nathanael (Chey) Gethers, Jordan (Kelly) Drey, and Kara (Andrew) Owen; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Henry; Alexandra; Scarlett and Noah; Ann and baby boy on the way; and Mallory; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 5, at Zion Lutheran Church at 1151 S. Germantown Road, Pershing, IN, 47370. The viewing will begin at 1:00 pm with the funeral service following immediately after at 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow the committal at Zions Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Zion’s Lutheran Church in memory of Priscilla.
