Woman shot in chest; investigation continues

A woman was flown Monday night (Dec. 30) to a regional hospital after receiving a gunshot wound to the chest.
Richmond Police Department’s second-shift patrol officers responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to a reported shooting in the first block of North 13th Street in Richmond.
Samantha Sester, 21, was located in the residence with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Reid Health and then flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, by helicopter. The victim’s injuries were reported to be non-life threatening, according to a news release from Capt. Curt Leverton of RPD’s Investigative Services Division.
Leverton said investigators were called to the scene for evidence processing and to talk to the witnesses. No arrest had been made on Tuesday morning, and the investigation is continuing.
Richmond Fire and EMS and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
