The Winchester track teams, running on their home track, won both the boys and girls team titles at the Tri-Eastern Conference meets held on Friday, May 16. Winchester junior Carter Campbell won four individual events to help lift his team to the title. Campbell won the 100 meter (11.32) in a photo finish over Maddox Pritchet from Centerville, the 200 meter (23.27), the 110-meter hurdles (15.55) and the 300-meter hurdles (39.50).
Winchester sophomore Lilyanna Mayberry won three individual events to help lift the Lady Falcons to the team title. Mayberry won the 100 meter (13.09), the 200 meter (27.57) and the high jump (5’4″).
Wayne County athletes won eight events in the boys meet.
Quanell Denton from Northeastern won the 400 meter (53.06). Isaac Schmitz from Hagerstown won the 800 meter (2:09.13). Centerville teams won the 4×100 meter relay (44.75) and the 4×800 meter relay (8:46.20). Caden Mejia-Alvarez from Lincoln won the high jump (5’10”). Landon Lawson from Hagerstown won the discus (138’7″). Coleson Campbell from Centerville won the shot put (44’9″) and Maddox Pritchet from Centerville won the long jump (21’8.5″).
Final team standing boys: Winchester 144, Centerville 108, Hagerstown 104, Northeastern 60, Tri High 49, Union County 47, Lincoln 39, Knightstown 23, Union City 4.
Wayne Country athletes also won eight events in the girls meet.
Amiyah Davis from Northeastern won the 400 meter (1:02.54). Kaylynn Wolfal from Centerville won the 800 meter (2:29.60) and the 1600 meter (5:35.89). Claire Bowen from Hagerstown won the 100-meter hurdles (18.04). Tasha Jordan from Centerville won the 300-meter hurdles (54.04). Centerville teams won the 4×400 meter relay (4:32.26) and the 4×800 meter relay (10:57.04). Abigail Sangster from Centerville won the discus (101’0″).
Final team standings girls: Winchester 129, Centerville 118, Hagerstown 91, Union County 74, Northeastern 54, Knightstown 34, Tri High 28, Union City 25, Lincoln 6.
