Free tests, prizes and refreshments aren’t typically part of a medical visit, but a few incentives are being offered to check out a new office.
Well Care Community Health is celebrating its newly constructed building at 2200 W. Main St. in Richmond with a grand opening gathering from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, June 25.
It’s a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that serves patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Care is offered on a sliding fee scale based on income.
Well Care employees will lead tours and offer free wellness checks, including blood pressure and cholesterol. Participants are eligible to win four tickets to a Cincinnati Reds game.
Festivities also include a ribbon-cutting by Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce and live broadcast by radio station G101.3, which is across the street.
Wayne County government had been leasing space to Well Care at 203 E. Main in Richmond, but officials determined the county’s health department needed to return to that space for its services. Well Care then constructed a building that’s closer to the county’s center.
Well Care officials say the new, larger office is designed to make healthcare more accessible, comfortable and efficient.
“This move represents the most exciting chapter in Well Care’s history,” said Eric Coulter, Well Care’s CEO, in a news release. “We built this new space with our patients and community in mind — and now we’re thrilled to open our doors and show everyone what we’ve been working toward.”
The new building is near Roseview Transit’s Route 4, making it accessible by public transportation. Well Care also forged a new partnership with Whitewater Valley Regional Transit, allowing qualifying patients to receive rides at no charge. Well Care also continues to offer bus vouchers and gas cards to qualifying patients who need help getting to appointments.
Well Care offers medical and behavioral health care at its new Richmond office as well as dental services at its Centerville clinic (100 Mattie Harris Road).
Including its southern Indiana offices in Austin and Henryville, Well Care serves nearly 10,000 patients annually.
