Centerville was Wayne County’s top finisher at Indiana State Fair Band Day, placing fourth just above Northeastern, which finished fifth.
Nearby Randolph County band Winchester was sixth, while Hagerstown was 10th and Richmond was 13th.

Daytime results
Three local schools earned awards for their performances in the daytime competition.
Centerville won Class AA overall. Hagerstown was second and Mooresville was third.
Centerville won caption awards for music, visual, general effect and percussion. Mooresville won color guard.
Northeastern won an award in Class AAA.
Overall results in that category were: Anderson, 1; Kokomo, 2; Jay Co., 3.

Lincoln finished 35th. Director Ryan Schunk told students, who developed the show in just 4 weeks, “Words cannot explain how proud I am.” Connersville and Tri were among nearby schools also competing.
Two other east-central Indiana schools were among the winners in Class A. Monroe Central was first overall, followed by Blue River Valley and Elwood.
Overall, Monroe Central made the Sweet 16. BRV was 17th and Elwood, 21st.
