Hagerstown council approved plans to replace a city pull car at a special session on April 22. President Allan Bullock and council members Brian Longbons and Dillon Pitcher were present, and member Chris Blaase joined via teleconference. Member Donnie Benedict was absent.
Pitcher and town manager Chris LaMar discussed repairs needed for the Ford Escape purchased in 2021. With estimates potentially costing more than the car is worth and the liability of employees using their own vehicles, Pitcher made a motion to purchase a new vehicle for no more than $10,000. The motion was approved.
An ordinance to increase a property’s value threshold from $15,000 to $25,000 was approved. The property at 152 N. Perry Street will be included in a home purchase by Dave Moore. An initial decision to proceed with an offer to nearby occupants was tabled until the home purchase closes next month.
LaMar provided that the new water line system is complete with repairs and cleanup underway. He also brought a request to hang pink ribbons on poles throughout town to support a Hagerstown student battling cancer. Details will be finalized later. Both Pitcher and Blaase agreed in supporting the family.
The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m., followed by a closed executive session. The next public council meeting is May 4 at 6:30 p.m., at 49 E. College St.
