The Hagerstown baseball team remained unbeaten after a doubleheader sweep of Triton Central Saturday April 8 at Lloyd Michael field. Hagerstown used a committee of six pitchers in the two games, with no pitcher working more than three innings, and stroked 23 hits in the wins.
Game 1
Hagerstown broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the third inning with a 5-run outburst, highlighted by a 3-run home run from Will Combs, and went on to win the game by the score of 8-2. Eight different Hagerstown players combined to collect 10 hits, with Quaid Mull and Ben Williams each supplying 2 hits. Mull, Kaagen Kendall, and Cole Tracy combined to strike out 11 Triton Central batters.

Game 2
Wyatt Burris, Collin Beaty, and Gavin Walter combined to pitch a one-hitter in a 21-0 win. The game was shortened to 5 innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Already leading 3-0 after two innings, the home team scored 7 runs in the third inning, capped off by a grand slam home run from Burris, and came back to send 17 batters to plate in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring 11 more runs. Burris was the winning pitcher. Eight different Hagerstown players combined to collect 13 hits. Ethan Campbell, Kayne Ervin, Walter, and Jackson Ward had 2 hits each.
Wyatt Burris spoke for the team after the games and talked about the potential the Tigers have. “We have a lot of depth in our pitching staff, and we have hitters up and down the line-up,” Burris said. “But the biggest strength of this team may be our team chemistry. We all support each other and wish the best for each other and that is a key to continued success.”
