The Hagerstown volleyball team opened regular-season play on Tuesday, Aug. 18, with a home match against Franklin County. The Tigers broke from a 2-1 deficit to score the next eight points and went on to win the first set 25-9. The Tigers built a 20-14 lead and held off a late Wildcat rally to win the second set 25-21 and completed the sweep leading wire-to-wire winning the third set 25-18.
Raleigh Doerstler led the Tiger attack with a match high of 21 kills and freshman Grace Mohr had an impressive varsity debut with nine kills.
Hagerstown head coach Brian Dale was pleased with the win.
“Our preseason scrimmage and the Wayne County tournament were both canceled,” Dale said. “So for us to sweep a team as good as Franklin County in our opener is great. I have no complaints.”
