Hagerstown High School hosted the 42nd annual Tiger Booster Track and Field Invitational on Friday, May 9. One of the oldest small-enrollment school meets in the state, the event drew 12 teams for the girls meet and 13 teams from the boys meet.

The weather was perfect for the runners, and as a result, three new meet records were established. The team of Memorie Idlewine, Kayci Hill, Lydia Waggener and Grace Lee from Shenandoah set a new record in the girls 4×400 meter relay race with a time of 4:08.80, breaking the previous record set by Franklin County in 2019. Charlie Gibson from Blue River broke a 40-year-old meet record in the 800 meter with a time of 2:21.42. The old record was established by Pam Rhodus from Hagerstown in 1985. The 4×200 meter relay team of Karter Gray, Hayden Hubbard, Jayden Painter and Jackson Ryder from Shenandoah set a new record with a time of 1:38.07. The old record was set by Tri High in 2024.

The depth of Shenandoah in the girls meet and of the Hagerstown boys was too much for the other teams to overcome. The Lady Raiders won the team title with 141 points. Centerville (91), Oldenburg Academy (80), Hagerstown (77.50) and Union County (58.50) rounded out the top five. The Hagerstown Tiger boys won the team title with 139 points. Centerville (110), Shenandoah (84), Blue River (68) and Northeastern (61) were also in the top five.

Wayne County athletes captured eight events in the boys meet. Maddox Pritchet from Centerville won the 100 meter (11.15) and the long jump (20’4.5″). Zach Golliher from Hagerstown won the 200 meter (23.63). Aiden Elmore from Centerville won the 400 meter (55.33). The team of Jeremiah Mull, Nick Whipple, Edward Parker and Maddox Pritchet from Centerville won the 4×100 meter relay (45.66). The team of Logan Brown, Marshall Phillips, Khyler Phillips and Quanell Denton from Northeastern won the 4×400 meter relay (3:45.44). The team of Ben Hokey, Cory Nash, Max Cabrera and Isaac Schmitz won the 4×800 meter relay (8:44.09). Coleson Campbell from Centerville won the discus (149’09”).

Wayne County athletes only captured two events in the girls meet. The team of Lily Black, Anna Nevels, Paige Dixon and Kaylynn Wolfal from Centerville won the 4×800 meter relay (10:58.75) and Payton Gross from Northeastern won the high jump (5-2).

Brayden Swoveland, from Blue River, was the highest scorer in the boys meet. Kayci Hill from Shenandoah was the highest scorer in the girls meet.
