According to a May 12 Facebook post, hundreds of dollars of equipment and other essential items were taken from Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Center, including saddle girths, bits for bridles, and a riding surcingle used to support sensory-sensitive riders.
While Sunrise’s post describes being hurt by the act, the post also expresses concern for the clients Sunrise serves. Sunrise offers a variety of therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship activities, from lessons to field trips at its stables.
“While this act was meant to hurt Sunrise, the people most affected are the riders and families who trust us each week to bring joy, confidence, purpose, and routine back into their lives. Interruptions like this can delay progress, disrupt schedules that many riders rely on day-to-day, and affect far more than just what happens in the arena,” they said in the post.
Despite the loss, they’ve forged forward and modified services as donors, sponsors and supporters have answered the call. Within hours of the social media post, followers commented on items they could give.
