A 17-year-old local boy has died after a shooting, and another teen faces a charge related to the incident.
The shooting took place Monday, Feb. 18, on Richmond’s northeast side near Glen Miller Park.
First-shift Richmond Police Department patrol officers and Richmond Fire Department were dispatched to the 2100 block of Grand Boulevard in Richmond after a shooting was reported.
The victim was found at the scene and transported to Reid Health, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Capt. Curt Leverton of RPD’s Investigative Services Division.
As the investigation began, officers located a 17-year-old male in the first block of North 19th Street. After an initial investigation, the juvenile was arrested and faces a preliminary charge of reckless homicide.
RPD’s Investigative Services Division was called to the scene to assist, and will be continuing the investigation. Investigators processed both locations to collect evidence.
