Grab your fans and boots for the second annual Black Expo presented by the Black Legacy Project of Wayne County. The free event will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the First Bank Kuhlman Center, 861 Salisbury Road N., in Richmond. The “friend-raiser” aims to create community connections while celebrating Black History Month.

This year’s theme, “Boots on the Ground,” has two meanings. While referencing the popular line dance, organizers say it also signifies Black people’s collective resilience, strength and courage in the face of adversity.

The expo features an array of activities for all to enjoy, including numerous vendors, entertainers and food trucks. The first 100 guests will receive a complimentary fan keepsake.

The expo is one of two annual events held by the BLPWC, with the other being its golf outing scheduled for June 21.

The BLPWC was formed to celebrate the history and contributions of Wayne County’s Black residents. For more information, contact BLPWC Founder/President Marlene Lindsey at 765-969-0673 or email mw11801@aol.com.
