Richmond Police Department Officer Seara Burton was transferred from the Intensive Care Unit at Miami Valley
Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, to a hospice facility in the Richmond area on Saturday.

“She will continue receiving excellent care and be surrounded by her family,” according to a news release from RPD Chief Mike Britt and Majors Jon Bales and Aly Tonuc. “The family is grateful for all of the community support but does request privacy at this time. Please be respectful of the family’s wishes while they spend this precious time with Seara.”

In related news, an online benefit auction begun last Wednesday to help Burton’s family is continuing Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Organizer Lori Branum Troutwine said she still has more than 100 gift cards/certificates and items to auction they couldn’t get to on the first evening, which lasted about six hours.

Troutwine owns Luxe Lizzies Boutique in Richmond and is a daughter of late RPD Chief Jim Branum. Funds raised during the auction go to RPD’s Blue Angels Fund.

The auction takes place live on Facebook on an event called “…CONTINUED Officer Seara Burton FB LIVE AUCTION – 100% All Proceeds to Seara!”
