It’s not Dasher, Dancer, Prancer or Vixen who gets to star in a Richmond Civic Theatre show.
The community theater performs a musical adaptation of the beloved “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” TV special starting Thursday, Dec. 11.
RCT volunteers offer the musical at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays from Dec. 11-14 and 18-21.
This version of “Rudolph” includes additional favorite characters including Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice and Yukon Cornelius.
“It’s an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special,” theater leaders say.
The G-rated musical also includes the title song and tunes such as “A Holly Jolly Christmas” that are sung to professionally recorded tracks.
With help from two sponsors, RCT is offering a complimentary post-performance reception with snacks for those attending or participating in the Friday, Dec. 12, show. It will be next door at Eight to the Bar, 931 E. Main St., with additional support from another neighbor, the Leland Legacy.
