Richmond head coach Kyle Ingram said after the Richmond Invitational on Monday, that he was looking for steady improvement. He found what he was looking for the next day.
The Richmond golf team traveled to the Liberty Country Club on Tuesday, Aug. 5, to join the field in the Union County Invitational. The Lady Red Devils found themselves in fast company. Batesville, which finished seventh in the state tournament last season, easily won the tournament with a score of 314. Richmond finished second and improved their team score by an amazing 19 strokes over the score they posted on Aug. 4.
In a battle between two of the state’s best individual golfers, Rowan Pies from East Central, who finished in a tie for seventh in the state tournament last season, posted a score of 66 to edge past Ava South from Batesville, who finished fifth in the state tournament last season, by a single stroke for medalist honors.

Hannah Stearley posted the lowest score for Richmond with a round of 75.
