This story ran earlier in our print editions, but we wanted to do one more reminder before Wednesday’s deadline.
Local high school students are invited to apply for a free health careers camp to be offered in June.
The one-day session will be offered with job shadowing opportunities with physicians, medical assistants, nursing, and allied health careers.
The allied health field includes physical, occupational and respiratory therapies, labs, dietetic services, medical records, radiology and speech-language pathology and audiology.
Reid Health, IU East, and Ivy Tech Community College are collaborating to offer the health careers camp, which will run from 9 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. June 19.
Students who apply must agree to participate for the full day.
Students interested in applying should have an interest in a health career; be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in the fall 2019 school year (or be a 2019 graduating senior); and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Applications are due May 1, which must include a reference from a high school principal or counselor, a copy of the student’s immunization record, and a consent to participate and photography release form.
