The Richmond Lady Red Devils hosted the Casey Pohlenz Memorial basketball tournament to honor the memory of their beloved former coach. The tournament, involving eight teams, was conducted Friday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Dec. 28. The Richmond Lady Red Devils made a strong run at the title, defeating both Purdue Poly Englewood and long-time rival Connersville to advance to the championship game. The Lady Red Devils put up a battle before eventually losing to the 2A third-ranked Alexandria-Monroe Tigers. After the tournament, Richmond seniors Amari Jackson and Amyannah Tucker were both named to the All-Tournament team.  

Results of opening round games, played Friday, Dec. 27: 

Richmond 65, Purdue Poly Englewood 60

Maren Bolser with 19 points, Amyannah Tucker with 18 points and Amari Jackson with 14 points led Richmond in scoring.

Connersville 60, Marion 44

Charlestown 42, Ben Davis 37

Alexandria-Monroe 87, Jac-Cen-Del 29

Results of semifinal round games, played Saturday morning, Dec. 28: 

Purdue Poly Englewood 63, Marion 45

Richmond 56, Connersville 52

All five Richmond starters scored, led by Amyannah Tucker with 25 points and Amari Jackson with 12 points, as the Lady Red Devils defeated longtime rival Connersville to advance to the title game.

Championship game: Alexandria-Monroe 49, Richmond 45

Richmond led at the end of the first three quarters but could not hold off the Tigers in the fourth quarter. Tiger senior Jacklynn Hosier, an Indiana All-Star candidate, led the comeback with 7 fourth-quarter points to end with a game high of 25 points.  Amyannah Tucker led Richmond with 21 points.
