The Richmond baseball team has had an up-and-down baseball season, but there have been times when they have displayed how good they could be. On Monday, June 1, everything fell in place and the Red Devils defeated heavily favored Pendleton Heights in the sectional championship 4-3.

Zander Juday pitched the complete game for Richmond to earn the win.

Juday only allowed two base hits and struck out seven. The Arabians, members of the Hoosier Heritage Conference, scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 2-0.

Richmond responded with a single run in the top of the second inning and added two runs in the top of the third inning to take a lead they would never surrender.

The Red Devils added a run in the top of the sixth inning and then held off a seventh-inning Arabian rally to win the sectional championship for the 30th time in program history, but the first in 15 years.

Juday and Weston Jones both collected two hits to lead the Red Devils. Logan Belanga drove in two runs.

The Red Devils will next face 4A top-ranked Center Grove Saturday, June 6, in the regional round. The game will be played at Center Grove. The Trojans will enter the game with a 26-1 record riding a 22-game winning streak.
