Richmond Community Schools has appointed three assistant superintendents, changing job titles for two employees and welcoming one to the district’s Central Office.
Elizabeth Markward will oversee elementary education, Sam Pritchard will lead secondary education and Karen Scalf will manage operations.
Markward brings 19 years of experience in elementary education to her role. She previously served as RCS’ chief of exceptional education. She earned a master’s degree in education from Indiana University and is known for innovative approaches to curriculum development and student engagement, according to a news release.
Pritchard was Rose Hamilton Elementary School principal since 2019 and was a principal for Northeastern Wayne Schools the previous 12 years. Pritchard earned a master’s degree from Ball State University and has 28 years of experience. He has a track record of improving outcomes and fostering a positive school culture, the release said.
Scalf has 24 years of experience in financial administration and operations. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and is known for her expertise in facilities management, budget planning and transportation, the release said.
