Children and families gathered at Cope Environmental Center for the Family Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Centerville.
Between nature education, displays, exhibits, activities, presentations, tree and shrub giveaways and hikes, there was plenty to keep curious minds busy and learning.
Family Earth Day has been conducted locally for more than 20 years. The first Earth Day was in 1970, held as a nationwide teach-in about environmental issues. It has since evolved into a global campaign encouraging awareness and action around protecting and preserving planetary health.
