During a season of wishes and magic, Richmond Civic Theatre’s Stage One Youth Theatre presents “Peter Pan Jr.”

The show opens Friday, Dec. 8, and will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays between Dec. 8-10 and 14-17. It’s approximately 60 minutes.

In advance, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and ages 65-plus. They increase $2 on show days.

RCT leaders describe the G-rated musical, based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale, as one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time.

The high-flying, Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world for 60 years and is now adapted for young performers.

The title character (played by Daniel Herzog) and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget.

During their adventure directed by Ryan Shaw, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, the fierce Brave Girls, a band of bungling pirates and the villainous Captain Hook.

In 1929, Barrie bequeathed “Peter Pan” to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, so every local ticket benefits their care.
