A company known for making packaging has moved its paper tubes division to a new location in Richmond.
With more space, Vandor Corp. officials say the relocation of its Progress Paper Tubes division to 3800 W. Industries Road provides opportunities for increased production and additional core and tube winding equipment.
Vandor makes packaging for continuously wound products such as wire, cable and textiles.
The investment reflects the company’s significant growth and commitment to providing enhanced customer care and growing operations, a news release said.
With additional space for expansion, Vandor’s PPT division will focus on customer growth and new product development. It also will hold additional inventory.
General Manager Bryan Davis said the move represents years of hard work and planning by Vandor’s leadership team.
The change, which takes effect June 1, positions the division and its employees for success, he said.
According to PPT’s website, its custom paper cores are suited for industries including wire, cable, fiber optic, textiles, yarn, extruded sheet plastics and films, funeral services, veterinarian services, horticultural solutions, product packaging, protective sleeves and mailer tubes, and paper conversion and rewinding.
The new building is closer to Vandor’s additional operations in Wayne County, including Vandor Plastics (4251 W. Industries Road) and Vandor’s corporate location (1400 Industries Road).
Officials note PPT is centrally located to Interstate 70 and cities such as Dayton, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Fort Wayne for easy shipping.
“PPT is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring additional value to Richmond and the greater Wayne County, Indiana, area,” Davis said.
Vandor won Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Corporation of the Year award at the organization’s January dinner.
At that time, WCACC officials praised Vandor’s expansion into multiple sectors after relocating to Wayne County. Those sectors include plastics, automotive interior components and funeral products.
