Maudie Belle Nash

Maudie Belle Nash, age 80, formerly of Cambridge City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at her residence in Kentucky. Born on Friday, May 12, 1944, to the late Edgar and Kuthie Earlywine King in Carlisle, Kentucky as Maudie Belle King, she was widowed in 1996 to the late Charles (aka “Charlie”) Edward Nash. Maudie, or “Belle,” as her friends and family called her, retired from Visteon (formerly Ford) of Connersville after 32 years of service. Maudie prided herself on her family and her home which, for many years, became the unofficial headquarters for the Cambridge City Police Department, as the officers would gather here regularly for her famous biscuits and gravy breakfasts.

Maudie’s biscuits and gravy were also enjoyed by her family during gatherings for the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays.

Everyone was welcome. No one was turned away or went home hungry.

Maudie leaves behind sons Randall King (April) of Kokomo, Indiana, Richard Nash (Deanna) of Waynesburg, Kentucky, Scott Nash (Lisa) of Cambridge City, Indiana, daughters Colletta (Travis) Wickes of New Castle, Indiana, Suenita (John) Valentine of Connersville, Indiana, Shawna Sherwood of Connersville, Indiana, and Anna (Randy) Whittington of North Carolina. She also leaves behind many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her brother, Edgar King, of Avilla, Indiana, sisters Barbara Corns of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Phyllis King of Maysville, Kentucky, and Jeanie Darlene Bloomfield of Carlisle, Kentucky.

In addition to her husband and parents, Maudie was preceded in death by brothers James King, Lee King, Richard Harlington King, and a sister, Anna Duncan.

Belle will be laid to rest in the West Side Cemetery in Milton, Indiana, beside her late husband and sweetheart, Charlie. A Celebration of Life for Maudie Belle Nash will be held at the Cambridge City Christian Church Annex in Cambridge City, Indiana on Friday, October 18th, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
