Rodney Kenneth McGuire, 74, of Connersville, passed away early Sunday morning, January 8, 2023 at Reid Health of Richmond. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
A lifelong resident of Connersville, Rodney was born December 8, 1948, the younger of two sons of Leonard and Maxine May McGuire. He was a 1967 graduate of Connersville High School. While attending CHS, he was a member of the band where he played saxophone. He later attended trade school in Indianapolis to become a tool and die machinist.
For over 38 years, he was employed at Roots Dresser as a machinist.
On June 7, 1969, he was married to Linda Sue Cole in Calvary Baptist Church. Linda’s father, Fred Cole, had a wonderful relationship with Rodney, and they could often be found fishing.
In his leisure, Rodney enjoyed golfing and skeet shooting in Rushville. He also loved attending his son and grandchildren’s sports and school activities.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Sue McGuire; a son, Ryan (Misti) McGuire of Connersville; four grandchildren, Zachary Ryan McGuire of West Lafayette, Indiana, Bradley Kenneth McGuire, Rebekah Danielle McGuire, and Mikalia (Joe) Barnes, all of Connersville; a great granddaughter, Abigail; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Clevenger and Rosemary Bentley; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chad Eric McGuire; a grandson, Eric Brennan McGuire; a granddaughter, Jenna Leigh McGuire; a brother, Leonard McGuire, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth McGuire and Betty Garrison; and his parents-in-law, Fred and Charlotte “Sweetie” Cole.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Ferreira officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
