Mildred “Millie” Arlene Sorrell, 84, of Springport passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at The Waters of New Castle following a brief illness. She was born July 10, 1938 in New Castle to the late George and Margaret (Bell) Abrell.
Millie was a 1956 graduate of Cadiz High School and worked at Brooks Foods in Mt. Summit for over 30 years and always helped to plan the employee retirement reunions. She served as Deacon at Springport Christian Church where she had been a lifelong member. She had worked several years at Pizza King in Mt. Summit where she enjoyed seeing everyone she knew. Millie loved cooking, sending cards, baking cookies for everyone, coloring and caring for her cat, Callie.
She is survived by two children, Rhonda Adkins, James Sorrell; grandchildren, Melisa (Grady) Mosley, Kristi (Ryan) Walsh; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie Waters, Devon Caulton and Siera Caulton; a sister, Rosalie (Don) Sampley; brother, Ronald Abrell; best friend, Lillian McShurley and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Malcom Sorrell; son, David Sorrell and a daughter, Cindy Sorrell-Hall.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bruce Crabtree officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a late date at Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport.
