Margie A. Jones, age 96 of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2023. Margie was born in Connersville, Indiana on December 4, 1926 to the late Paul L. and Mary E. Fisher Gettinger. She was a graduate of Alquina High School.
Margie later married the love of her life, Carl E. Jones. They enjoyed nearly 60 years together prior to his passing on June 26, 2010.
Margie had a career as an administrative assistant. She worked for Nettle Creek Industries were she was employed 19 years prior to her retirement. Margie was a part of the U.S. census bureau for over 30 years. She was also employed as the Waterloo Township Trustee from 2006-2010.
Margie loved horses in fact she dedicated her life to them. She was the 4H horse and pony leader for over 60 years in Fayette County. Margie was a part of the Waterloo Extension Home Economics Club, The Fayette County Horseman’s Association, and The National Appaloosa Association. She judged the National Appaloosa Shows for over 50 years. She also judged POA shows for over 25 years.
Her memories will be loved and cherished by her children, Nancy (Don) Greenburg, Peter Jones, and Danny (Cindy) Rodenburg; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Margie will be thought of often by her siblings, William Gettinger, David Gettinger, and a sister-in-law Joanna Gettinger.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Phillip, and Robert Gettinger; a sister, Hilda Ostermann; her sisters-in-law Margie, Grace, and Phyllis Gettinger, and a brother-in-law Edwin Ostermann.
Friends may visit with the family at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th, Connersville, on Monday February 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Fayette County 4-H Horse and Pony Club.
