David Eugene Massengale, 62, of Lawson, Missouri, and formerly of New Castle, Indiana, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, April 14th, 2023.
He was born on June 20th, 1960, in New Castle to the late Ernest and Bonnie (Dehart) Massengale.
He was a Class A CDL heavy equipment operator for over 40 years. He enjoyed going to antique malls and country rides with his late wife of 40 years, Terry Massengale. He enjoyed fishing and watching football games. He loved the Colts. Although he found joy in those things, more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He especially loved being “Pappy” to his four great-grandsons.
He is survived by one son, Jason (wife-Jenny) Massengale of Lawson, MO; a grandson, Ian (wife-Masie) Massengale of Liberty, MO; a granddaughter, Samantha(husband-Scott) Hacker of Lawson, MO; four great-grandsons, Noah, Cohen, and Mason Hacker and Eli Massengale all of Missouri; three brothers, Kenny Massengale of Lawson, MO, Dennis “Jerome” Massengale (companion- Karen Cochran), and Steve “Flash” Massengale all of New Castle; and one sister-in-law, Kimberly Criswell. Several special nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa “Terry” Massengale; mother and father-in-law Richard and Carolyn Marcum; four brothers, James Edward “JW” Massengale, Mike “Sage” Massengale, Jeff Massengale, and Ronnie “Smokey” Massengale; one sister-in-law, Lana Hammond; a brother-in-law, Gregory Marcum; maternal grandparents, John and Oma Dehart; and paternal grandparents, James and Ethel Massengale.
Visitation for David will be Thursday April 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM ~ 1:00 PM at Rose City Funeral Home; 2011 Broad St in New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Davis from Open Arms Church officiating. A burial will immediately follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle.
