Shirley Moore

Shirley Ann (Hall) Moore, 90, of Greens Fork, Indiana, closed her eyes one last time on this earth, and when she opened them, she was in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 31, 1934, in Burkes Garden, Virginia, Shirley was the daughter of the late Joe and Dorothy (Shewey) Hall. She was a proud graduate of Fountain City High School, Class of 1954.

On August 8, 1954, Shirley married the love of her life, George Thomas Moore. Together, they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, faith, laughter and cherished memories—building a life that touched all who knew them. George preceded her in death in 2015.

Shirley devoted her life to caring for others through her work in healthcare, always leading with compassion and kindness. She was strong, energetic and a true spitfire—full of determination and a quick wit that could brighten anyone’s day. She delighted in her family, her home and especially her flowers, which she tended with pride and care, making hers “the prettiest house in town.”

She is survived by her three children: Mary Ann Lotz of Greens Fork, Indiana; Frank (Jane) Moore of Greens Fork, Indiana; and Cynthia (Mark) Walton of Ormond Beach, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, John Hall, and sister, Sue (Dale) Miller-Hertel, both of Richmond, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Travis) Calender, Dwan Lotz, Jessica Moore, Shevonne Lotz, Jennie (Jordy) Reed, Kyle Moore, Donni (Ed) Parkin-Lotz and Tanner Rausch; 24 great-grandchildren; two very special great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley will be remembered for her loving heart, lively spirit, sense of humor and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now home with the Lord.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Greens Fork Community Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A special message of love and appreciation is extended to her daughter, Mary Ann Lotz, for the tender, loving care she gave our precious mother. Your strength, patience, and tenderness were a true reflection of the love she gave to all of us. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dia Polakovich from Compassus Hospice for the kindness and compassion she showed to Shirley and her family during this time.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
