Charles E. “Chuck” Snyder, 91, of Connersville passed away Saturday evening, February 25, 2023 at Reid Health, Richmond.
One of two children of Anthony A. and Effie Welch Snyder, Chuck was born in Connersville on December 10, 1931. He attended St. Gabriel School and graduated from Harrisburg High School with the class of 1950.
Chuck served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed at Roots Blower in Connersville as a Machinist, retiring in 1993 after 41 years of service.
Chuck married the former Joan King in Temple, Texas on October 17, 1955 and she passed away on January 13, 1976. He married the former Mary Ann Risch in Connersville on September 12, 1992. Mrs. Snyder survives.
A lifelong member of St. Gabriel Church, Chuck was also a member of the Moose Lodge, AMVETS, American Legion, and Local UAW #1118. An agricultural enthusiast, Chuck farmed in the Harrisburg area most of his life.
Besides his wife of thirty years, Mary Ann Snyder, survivors include four sons, Brian Lee Snyder, Samuel Andrew Snyder, and Michael Edward (Suzy) Snyder all of Connersville, Clay Doug Snyder of Shelbyville, Indiana; two daughters, Laird Snyder of Wayne County, Indiana, and Betty Jean (Bruce) Freeland of Centerville, Indiana; five step-children, Jama Maeza, Patrick Welsh, Paul Welsh, Douglas Welsh, Eric Welsh; fourteen grandchildren, Loretta Venegas, Charles Melhorn, Amanda Canty, Lora Canty, Jennifer Canty, Jason Freeland, Steven M. Snyder, George Lowery, Anthony Snyder, Samantha Snyder, Cole Snyder, Destiny Snyder, Kolton and Damon Snyder; several great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Snyder of Connersville.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joan Snyder; a step-son, Michael Welsh; and a grandson, Jeremy Freeland.
Recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the funeral home. Reverend Dustin Boehm will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by Fayette County Veterans Council will be in Dale Cemetery.
